There are many kinds of exams and English level certificates for pursuers to take. This is surely a huge wave of learning English.　　No doubt English is very important, but only to those in need of using it in their study and work. For example, if one works in a foreign capital company where there are a lot of foreign employees, and English is the daily communication tool, a good mastery of English is not only useful, but also essential. If a student wants to study abroad, it is necessary for him to lay a very good foundation in language, or else he will not get the permission or waste a lot of time in his stay in foreign universities.　　As I see it, students in Chinese universities spend too much time on English learning. Statistics show that most students devote almost half of all their study time to English. This is not a good trend. Anyhow, students should deal with their majors more seriously and with more energy. As for those whose have no communication with foreigners or foreign materials in their work at all, it is not a wise choice to waste a lot of time learning English unless one is really very interested in it.
